Final Bachelor project

The  last project of the bachelor Industrial Design Engineering at the TU Delft consists of a 10 week individual design project.

​

In the fall of 2018 the company GreenTom asked a studio of students to design a new addition for their product portfolio. GreenTom is a Dutch company that makes strollers out of post-consumer plastic.

 

My goal for this project was to incorporate another sustainable element, next to using recycled plastic, while creating something that would fit seamlessly into the existing portfolio. After analysing GreenTom's most popular product, the original stroller, it became clear that this product would often be discarded too early for its intended and potential lifespan. Therefore the idea emerged to re-use a part of the stroller in another product. This product could be the start of a modular GreenTom product line.

The end result was a foldable bike trailer in which the stroller component was re-used. Ideas for further detailing were to add a foldable kid seat to the trailer. In this way the trailer could be used for cargo and as a safe way of transport for children.
